Who is eligible?

  • New international freshman and transfer students on F-1 visas with a minimum GPA of 2.5 are eligible.

Who is ineligible:

  • Current UK students are ineligible.
  • Applicants who are subject to non-resident tuition
  • Exchange and visiting students are ineligible.
  • applicants who graduate from Kentucky high schools are ineligible

Responsibility of Student Ambassadors:

The primary responsibility of an ambassador is to represent the university to potential international students. Ambassadors are given assignments that typically take one hour each week. Here are a few instances of ambassador involvement:

  • Participate in the ambassador meetings every month.
  • Give talks about the UK in your native country.
  • Social media and one-on-one online chats can be used to motivate and draw in potential overseas students.

  • To apply for the International Student Ambassador scholarship, fill out this form. For any inquiries, please email Audra Cryder at audra.cryder@uky.edu. This grant is only available to applicants who have been accepted to the university for undergraduate studies.
  • After the deadline of February 15th, the evaluation procedure begins.
  • Those who make it to the finals will take part in two group interviews; successful applicants will move on to the second phase, where they will have to create a brief film.
  • By April 1st, scholarship decisions are made public.
